Coinbase, the biggest crypto exchange in the U.S., is expanding internationally amid growing friction with regulators at home. Institutional investors from jurisdictions outside the country can trade in “perpetual futures” — or derivatives contracts without an expiration date — on Coinbase International Exchange. The expansion follows CEO Brian Armstrong’s statement last month that unless more clarity emerged around rules related to crypto investing in the U.S., the exchange would consider relocating outside of it altogether. Another U.S. crypto exchange, Gemini, also launched a derivatives platform for trading outside the U.S. Tuesday.
Plus, is there a tax loophole big enough to drive an EV through? According to one industry veteran, the new Treasury Department rules exclude most EVs and PHEVs from the full $7,500 new-vehicle tax credit, but the department has ruled that all commercially leased EVs and PHEVs qualify for the $7,500 tax credit for the lessor.
